There are a number of changes to the curriculum which we would like to make you aware of before the New Year.

  1. Number of Subjects:
  • Home Language (English)
  • First Additional Language (Afrikaans)
  • Mathematics
  • Natural Science and Technology (These 2 are combined)
  • Social Sciences (History and Geography)
  • Life Skills (Life Orientation, Arts & Culture and Music, PE)

 

2.   Recording:

All grades will now use the 1-7 levels of competence.

3.   These are the guidelines for Promotion Requirements and may be subject to change.

  • Level 4 (50 – 59%) for English
  • Level 3 (40 – 49%) for Afrikaans
  • Level 3 (40 – 49%) in Mathematics
  • Level 3 (40 – 49%) in any other 2 of the remaining subjects

 

4.   School-based assessment

  • School-based assessment is a compulsory component for progression and promotion.
  • The school-based assessment is different in each phase.

  • As usual all formally recorded activities must be completed at school although resources e.g. research may be required for individual activities.
